Universidad de Guanajuato
Dating back to 1732, the Universidad de Guanajuato is one of Mexico's most prestigious learning institutions. In fact, it's the only school in the country to be featured on an official banknote, as the main building of the university appears on the bill for 1000 pesos. The time-honored academic tradition in Guanajuato is strong and there's no doubt that a certain intellectual vibe permeates the historic streets. This is part of why Guanajuato is such a wonderful city in which to take a Spanish course, whether you're taking your very first class, wanting to brush up on your skills or even interested in learning about a specialized subject like Medical or Business Spanish Course, Literature or even Mexican Cooking!
You can also thank the Universidad de Guanajuato for the Festival Internacional Cervantino, the city's internationally-renowned festival. The university's historic tradition of performing works by Cervantes sparked the development of the massive cultural festival, and today the university continues to manage diverse cultural activities as well as the year-round programming of the Teatro Principal
Another great side effect of Guanajuato's university, as well as one of the reasons why students love it so much here, is the youthful atmosphere found throughout the city's centuries-old streets. With a populous and fun-loving university crowd to please, Guanajuato boasts chill coffee shops, restaurants of all kinds, places to just "hang out" and an eclectic nightlife brimming bars and clubs
