Festival Internacional Cervantino

Enforex

The annual Festival Internacional Cervantino, held each October for two to three weeks, is by far the most anticipated event on Guanajuato's cultural agenda as well as Latin America's biggest celebration of the arts. The festival is celebrated throughout Latin America but Guanajuato, having been officially designated the "Cervantes Capital of America", is without a doubt the leader of the pack. In fact, it welcomes more than 2,400 artists and performers from nearly 30 countries!

You can credit the Universidad de Guanajuato, always at the helm of Guanajuato's cultural scene, with the creation of the Festival Internacional Cervantino. Over time, the university's time-honored tradition of putting on student performances of Miguel de Cervantes' "entremeses", or short works, in Guanajuato's open spaces and plazas launched the festival into what it is today! Today, parks, theatres, plazas, churches and other spaces throughout the city become stages for the festival's jam-packed schedule of events, featuring music, theatre, dance, art, folklore and much more.

There's truly no better time to be in Guanajuato than during this one-of-a-kind cultural exchange of the arts. Take a look at our wide range of Spanish courses and consider learning Spanish while experiencing all that the Festival Internacional Cervantino has to offer! You won't regret it!
